South Pines Golf Club

Local legends, the Guy family, built this course on farming land around 1990, basically as a practice facility for the use of their son, Andrew, who at the time was an up and coming star left hander.

So naturally, in designing a golf course for lefties, you would insert a few dog legs to the left – from my count there are 7! And the right handers only get 2!

Now that’s my type of golf course being a leftie myself!

It’s established and grown over the years to be a cracking volunteer run operation, with a very committed team of workers which is magnified by the pristine condition of hte courses tight knit kykuyu fariways and bent blend greens.

Small greens are guarded by bunkers which challenge approcah accuracy, and with just the 2 par 3s, you’ve got to hit every shot right to keep on the scorecard.

When we installed Vendi, the committee were so keen they basically redesigned the front of their clubhouse and built some false walls for housing the machine, as well as rearranging security cameras to capture sales movement.

South Pines will hold a record that may never bee broken – they achieved $10000 in sales after installation in just 85 days! That was our total estimation for the year…

Now also with tier 3 software for the 260 strong membership, and a growing cohort of green fee players looking for a great challenge, South Pines is a must stop destination just off the Princes Hwy about 20km west of Bairnsdale – especially if you are a leftie!
